The Flight of the Eagle

The Flight of the Eagle is a tourist attraction in San Costantino Albanese within the Pollino National Park in the province of Potenza. It is a wonderful experience that lets you fly from a mountaintop to the valley below.

Visitors, arriving in the valley, get strapped into the Aquila skylift, similar to a hang glider for 4 people and equipped with handles and footrests, and are conveyed to the take-off table at the top of the mountain. The aptly named flight towards the valley bottom begins here. Strict safety measures ensure that this is an unforgettable experience for all - including families with children aged 10 and over that want to share a moment of pleasure, pure enjoyment and healthy adventure in the Pollino National Park.

Reservations and tickets

The Flight of the Eagle: a mechanical structure ensures a downward speed of 23m/s (approximately 80km/h or 50mph). There is a loading area below and a take-off area at the top of the mountain.

In the loading area people get strapped into the Aquila skylift, similar to a hang glider with handles and footrests that holds four people at a time. The Eagle is then hauled up to the take-off point by a continuously moving cable. After an initial burst of power, the skylift continues travelling at a constant speed, then it begins to slow down with 170m still to go, until it docks in at the take-off point.
